What is Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi is a connectivity technology. A device enabled with Wi-Fi, such as your PC (Notebook, laptop or netbook), smartphone or tablet, can connect to the Internet via a wireless network access point. An access point (or hotspot) has a range of about 65 ft (20 meters) indoors and a greater range outdoors. Hotspot coverage can comprise an area as small as a single room with walls that block radio signals or a large area, as much as many square miles, covered by multiple overlapping access points.

Why do I need Wi-Fi connection? I have my data plan...

In most cases, Wi-Fi is significantly faster than the Cellular network, so your Internet browsing, videos and games will work smoother. Of course, when your device is connected to Wi-Fi, usage is NOT counted against your data plan so you have MORE to use when Wi-Fi is not available, WITHOUT paying for overages or being throttled to lower speeds.

Do I have to pay any extra for Wi-Fi connections?

In most cases - NO. Millions of Wi-Fi hotspots (including, of course, your home and workplace) are 100% free, so you can enjoy higher connection speed and quality without any additional charges. In some cases, hotspots do require payment. wefi SHALL NOT automatically connect you to these and SHALL NOT deduct any funds from your cellular account.

Why do I need wefi Client when I can use my phone’s default Wi-Fi network list?

wefi Client automatically connects you to the best available Wi-Fi network, saving you time and effort. You can still use your phone’s default Wi-Fi networks list to manually choose networks you want to join. In addition, wefi has knowledge of millions of qualified hotspots all over the world, and can automatically connect you to those spots.

Will my phone calls go through Wi-Fi now?

No. All of your voice calls go through the Operator’s network as before. Your Internet browsing, videos and online games will use Wi-Fi connections where available.
With wefi you can enjoy more VoIP call availability when using apps like Skype which need Wi-FI to connect.

For most Wi-Fi network you use, especially your home network - wefi is not involved in asking you or using your password (it’s the work of the Android operating system). For some networks, operated by Wi-Fi operators like Boingo, wefi Client may ask you for your password so you can be connected automatically.
